Six BTC Seniors have recently returned from a 12 day Rugby Union Tour of Japan with the Townsville and District Brolgas Team. Shannon Bailey, Callum Smith, Scott Cerqui, Ross Leggett, Josiah Phillott and John John Wak travelled and played in the Osaka and Wakayama prefectures of Japan. They were billeted by a variety of Japanese families which helped them gain a true understanding of the Japanese culture. The team won 2 from the 5 games they played. The first 2 games were won convincingly (50-0, 99-0) while the last three games made them play harder. In these games they let the opposition get in early tries and had to play catch up Rugby. Although going down to the Japanese teams they enjoyed the competitiveness of these games. (35-20, 32-17, 26-7)The boys visted schools and Colleges in the area and were impressed with the 3D computers at the Fushimi Technical High School. They enjoyed sightseeing at each area they stayed at and were lucky to visit when the cherry blossoms were blooming. Osaka Castle was impressive , they travelled by the rail system and experienced many of the Japanese culinary delights.
