The Co-curricular Awards Evening returned to Blackthorn Hall this year. With new lighting and sound system, the hall decorated in House colours, it was time to celebrate the year's co-curricular activities.The Celebration format of the evening with students wearing their House uniform was a big hit with the students, bringing out a lot of school spirit and pride in their Houses. For a full list of Awardees please refer to the program of events or the report in a future BTC Briefing. Archie/ Black had a busy night picking up trophies in boys and girls Swimming, Tennis, Netball, rugby League (Aaron Campbell Memorial Shield), girls Soccer, Athletics(Nocoleche Cup, P&F Aggregate Cup), Junior girls and boys House winners, Senior girls and tied Senior boys which ulimately led to them winning the Lily Mc Master Shield and Champion House for Girls and the Logan Shield and Champion House for Boys. The other Houses did take home some wins as well. Bacon won the Softball, girls and boys Cross Country, Rugby League (Willmott Cup) and Cricket. Bryce Dickson House won boys Soccer (Fairclogh Family Shield), Athletics (Rossiter Cup, Dand D Hardie Overall Aggregate).
Individually, Sarah Hesp won the D.K. Beneke Athletics trophy and Thomas Polkinghorne won the Jos Allingham Athletics trophy. Junior Sportswoman was Layne Prichard while Darcy Ginns-Larkin was Junior Sportsman of 2011. Gemma Hills and Callum Smith were the Senior Sportswoman and Sportsman of the Year.
Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award recipients were Jodie Fisher,Maddie Brown and Jack Dahl.
Undefeated Premiership winning teams were 2nds Softball, U14 Cricket and 2nd Girls Tennis. A group of 12 students were congratulated for having competed in all Interschool Sport available to them.
The audience were treated to excellent media presentations compled by Hudson Fox and Gemma Hills , "Sister Act" drama performance, The Stage Band performing "Let Me Entertain You" and an unbelievable dance performance by Anton, Esa and John John (boys you have been hiding your talent!!)
A great night was had by all. A big thanks to Marnie Wilson, Paul Roose and Laurie Crole for putting it all together.
