8 BTC Seniors were part of the u17 Bulls Rugby Uniob team who took on Western Devils in the Grand Final on Saturday. The Bulls started strongly hammering the Western Devils line but couldn't quite make it over. They opted to kick for touch and aim for more points with a try rather than chancing the 3 points for a penalty kick .While the opposition, who also struggled to break the Bulls defence, took the penalty kick to give them a 3 point lead at half time.
Some fancy footwork by Errol and a flick to Kael saw him go over just near the posts and with the try converted the Bulls led 7-3. Unfortunately a penalty kick from in front was missed and the pressure was back on the Bulls as Western Devils attacked their line. The Devils won the scrum from the Bulls feed which put them in a good position to charge over for a try. With the conversion missed the Bulls were down 7-8 with the clock ticking away. Unfortunately the huge front line of the Western Devils pushed over out wide for a last try in the dying minutes. A converted try would have given the Bulls the trophy but they ran out of time. Well done to the team and especially to our BTC boys. Great to see supporters from the dorms cheering the boys on.
