NAIDOC Celebrations
BTC celebrated NAIDOC with activities from P-12. The younger Year P-2 students were involved with bark and rock painting, making damper and listening to dreamtime stories while theYear 3-6 students split up into groups of boys and girls . Indigenous boys then spoke to the group of boys while the girls were involved in making friendship bracelets with indigenous girls. The bracelets were in the colours of the Aboriginal flag and Torres Strait Islanders flag. Secondary grades were involved with discussions of the importance of NAIDOC, completed a word search and some did colouring in. To top off the day, some of the students performed some of their dances. A big thanks to all students and teachers involved in organising NAIDOC activities. A special thanks to Tanay, Brittney, Tajah and Kerri-Ann for their inspiring dancing. Well done girls. Also to Jacinta for telling the students about the dances and for Sebastian, Peter and Errol for teaching some of the boys their dance moves.
