BTC students were involved first hand with the viewing of the transit of Venus.Atherton State High School astronomy students and astrophysics teacher Mr David Platz helped set up computer links from the BTC telescope to allow excellent viewing of the event. Students could also look at the sun through darkened glasses to see what they could observe with the naked eye. The small black dot of Venus, which is a fraction of the size of the Sun could be easily seen in both the portable telescope transmission onto a screen and the BTC telescope image. The live feed could also be viewed on the internet. With the clear skies, the BTC students were fortunate to be involved in this phenomena which will not occur again in their lifetime.
