Remembrance Day Service and Colours Assembly

The BTC community commemorated Remembrance Day  in the Blackthorn Hall. There service was led by the Senior history class which gave an insight into the significance of  the 11 th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month. There was also a slide presentation to give visual representation.

Three of the Year 1/2 students laid wreaths at the lectern. The class had been making the wreaths in their art lesson.

After the Remembrance Day  service, Mr Bowden presented students who had achieved Colour recognition for outstanding effort in their field , whether it be public speaking or a sport. Both Half Colours and Full Colours  were presented. encouragement Award certificates were also presented to students for playing their sport with good attitude , commitment and sportsmanship. The students were congratulated by BTC Principal Mr Fairbairn and Mr Bowden.

Other students were acknowledged for their selction into regional NQ or FNQ teams. Babetha Nona - FNQ AFL, Zahra  Shadbolt,  Alix Reid , Kelsey Jones(shadow) NQ Softball and Jaimi Rossow NQ Tennis.

Nikita Wearing was presented with her Silver Level for Duke of Edinburgh's International Award.

Junior School Commemorate Remembrance Day

The Year 5/6 class and Mrs Ferguson represented the College at the Memorial Service held at the Cenotaph in town. Junior School leaders placed a wreath as part of the service.  The Bilbies and Years 1-4 were involved with the College Remembrance  Day Service. The Year 1/2 students had made wreaths of poppies which they laid at the lectern in the hall.

Friendships Last Forever

BTC legends, Mr Norm Wallace and Miss Jessie Landsberg travelled to Brisbane for Mr Graham Thomson's recent  90th birthday celebrations. Both Mr Graham Thomson and his son Mr Ross Thomson are past principals of Blackheath and Thornburgh College. All enjoyed catching up and reliving past memories.

This is what makes BTC so special. Friendships are formed that last more than the "three score years and ten" ; it crosses over the generations and will last into the future as new students absorb this special culture. 

Winners Free Driving Lesson from Survivors Driving School

Congratulations to Jessee Santo and Callum Bourke, who were the winners of the free driving lesson from Survivors Driving School. Instructor, Mr Rod Miller, presented the excited recipients with their vouchers.
