After weeks of preparation and shopping for supplies, the BTC students completing their Duke of Edinburgh Awards, left for Magnetic Island. after the rainy weather of their last camp, they were prepared for all weather contingencies. After setting up camp the group had were involved in some evening beach activities involving trust and direction giving. While blindfolded directions had to be given to help their partner to negotiate an obstacle course. The group learnt about sailing when they sailed to a bay which was then explored by climbing, walking and swimming. the group also explored various parts on the island by trekking through beautiful bush walks. On their downtime they visited a wildlife park and got up close and personal with some of the animals. They enjoyed completing team planned activities which included touch footy games and sandcastle building competitions and enjoying each other's cooking skills.
A great time was had by students and leaders. If you are interested in joining the Duke of Edinburgh students in completing an award please see Mr West or Ms McAllister.
