Secondary Interhouse Swimming Carnival

 The students arrived at the pool full of enthusiasm and colour ready to compete in the Secondary Interschool Swimming Carnival. With the 200m  freestyle having been swum the evening before, the first events of the day were the 50m freestyle.  Results from the 200m freestyle saw Jessee Santo touch 1st ahead of Jaimi Rossow in the 13 years age group while in the 14 yrs Lachlan Corrigan and Keesha Whyte claimed 1sts, Tuk Kuwajima and Raven Guy  touched 2nd in their respective races and Jayden Pickering and touching 3rd. In the 15 yrs  events Haidyn Kettunen  and Madi Smith touched 1st,  Dale Perrett and Kate Miller came 2nd and Jemimah  Phillott was awarded 3rd place.  The 16 yrs  race had Lucy Campbell and Darcy Ginns Larkin (House and College record at 2:14.78 ) as 1st while Katie Williams and Jake Hillyear were 2nd with Errol Miller claiming 3rd points. In the Open event Sally Carrington and Harrison Phillott   touched 1st, Hayley Whiting and Toby Paynter claimed 2nd and while Shaunica Lee Cheu and Brandon swam spirited races to come 3rd.

    The 13 yrs was the first 50 m race with Jaxson Gallagher swimming 1st , Jack Gillatt 2nd and Allan rau 3rd in the boys event with Jessee Santo 1st, Hayley Condon 2nd Jaimi Rossow 3rd in the girls race. 14 yrs boys had Lachlan Corrigan 1st, Tuk Kuwajima 2nd, and Daniel Windus 3rd while in the girls event Keesha Whyte powered to a 1st with Ashlee Walsh touching 2nd and Raven Guy claiming 3rd. Madi Smith and Dale Perrett won their resoective 15 yrs free races while in the boys  race Haidyn Kettunen touched 2nd  followed by Colin Rayment. And in the girls race Kate Miller touched 2nd  with Jemimah  Phillott claiming 3rd. 16 yrs boys had another record from Darcy Ginns- Larkin (26.33) in claiming 1st, Fred Batt 2nd , Casey Henry 3rd while in the girls event Lucy Campbell came in 1st, Rachael Dahl 2nd and Kaylin Laffey 3rd. In Open event sally Carrington powered to 1st place with Shaunica Lee Cheu 2nd, Morgan Williams 3rd and in the boys race Harrison Phillott claimed 1st ahead of Toby Paynter 2nd and Callum Brown 3rd.

Second event was the 50m breaststroke with the 13yrs lining up first again. Jack Gillatt touched 1st in the boys followed by Allan Rau 2nd, Clint Rayment 3rd while in the girl’s race  Jessee Santo touched  1st, Sophie McLaren 2nd and  Jaimi  Rossow 3rd.   In the 14 yrs  boys event Lachlan Corrigan was 1st, Jack McQueen 2nd and Daniel Windus 3rd while  Keesha Whyte finished 1st for the girls and Evie Batt  was 2nd with Raven Guy 3rd. 15 yrs boys had Colin Rayment 1st, Mark Lucas 2nd, Haidyn Kettunen 3rd while in the 15 yrs girls Madi Smith touched 1st followed by Kate Miller 2nd and Jemimah Phillott 3rd. Darcy Ginns- Larkin claimed 1st in the 16 yrs boys with fred Batt 2nd and Jake Hillyear 3rd while in the girls race placings were: Katie Williams 1st, Rachael Dahl 2nd and Melanie Jones 3rd. In the final breaststroke race of the day, the Open event, Toby painter placed 1st followed by Danny Rayment 2nd and Harrison Phillott 3rd with Morgan Williams powering away to the first place in the girls event  with sally Carrington touching 2nd and Shaunica Lee Chau 3rd.
 




 

 Swimmers were then marshalled in the  100m freestyle races. Jack Gillatt was the 1st 13 yrs old boy while Clint Rayment came in 2nd. In the girls 13 yrs event there was a close tussle for first with only .01 of a second difference between Jessee Santo 1st and Hayley Condon 2nd with Jaimi Rossow touching 3rd. In the 14 yrs boys placings were  Lachlan Corrigan 1st, Jayden Pickering 2nd, Tuk Kuwajima 3rd while the girls  were Keesha Whyte 1st, Raven Guy 2nd India Aitchison 3rd. Haidyn Kettunen placed 1st in the 15 yrs boys with Daniel  Simatis2nd and Dale Perrett 3rd and in the 15 yrs girls Madi Smith came in 1st, Kate Miller 2nd and Jemimah Phillot 3rd. Still record chasing, Darcy Ginns Larkin claimed fist and another record (59.93) followed by Jake Hillyear 2nd and  Fred Batt 3rd while in the girls race placings were: Lucy Campbell 1st, Katie Williams2nd and Rachael Dahl 3rd. The Senior students lined up for the   final 100m  freestyle races In the boys Open race Harrison Phillott  claimed 1st followed by Toby Paynter 2nd and Roy fisher 3rd while in the girls the placings were: Sally Carrington 1st, Shaunica Lee Cheu 2nd , Hayley Whiting 3rd.

The first of the relays, Medley Relay saw the team spirit rise even more. In the Junior Girls  Archie came in 1st with Bryce 2nd and Bacon 3rd while the Junior boys results were  black 1st Bacon 2nd Dickson  3rd . The Senior relays had the girls placings Archie 1st, Bacon 2nd, Bryce 3rd and the boys were Black 1st Bacon 2nd Dickson 3rd.

The swimmers lined up behind the blocks for 50m  butterfly next.  13 yrs was only represented by the girls with Jessee Santo 1st, Hayley Condon 2nd and Jaimi Rossow 3rd.In the 14yrs event Keesha Whyte claimed another 1st  followed by Madalyn Weicks 2nd, Raven Guy 3rd while in the boys race  Lachlan Corrigan touched 1st with Jayden Pickering claiming 2nd. The 15 yrs had Dale Perrett 1st and Haidyn Kettunen 2nd while in the girls race Madi Smith powered to 1st with Kate Miller 2nd and Jemimah Phillott a closely touching 3rd. Darcy Ginns- Larkin churned down the pool in the 16yrs boys to claim 1st with Fred Batt touching 2nd while  Lucy Campbell touched 1st for the girls with Demi Goldsworthy 2nd and Katie Williams 3rd. The Open swimming field was a bit light on with all swimmers from Archie Black. Girls 1st was Morgan Williams with Sally Carrington 2nd and boys 1st was Harrison Phillott  with Toby Paynter 2nd.

Finally the last individual races which was the 50m backstroke. In the 13 yrs  Allan Rau swam into a 1st place followed by Clint Rayment 2nd Jack Gillatt 3rd while in the girls race it was Hayley Condon 1st Brianna Innes 2nd Jaimi Rossow 3rd.14 yr old  age group’s  Keesha  Whyte claimed 1st convincingly while Ashlee Walsh swam 2nd and Raven Guy 3rd in the girls race while Jayden Pickering just touched in front of Tuk Kuwajima in the boys race. 14 yrs saw Madi Smith touch 1st followed by Kate Miller 2nd Jemimah Phillott 3rd  in the girls  and in the boys Haidyn Kettunen claimed 1st, Dale Perrett 2nd and Colin Rayment 3rd .  16 yr old Darcy Ginns- Larkin finished his last individual race with another record (32.57) in front of Fred Batt 2nd while Lucy Campbell claimed another 1st in the 16 yrs girls with Demi Goldsworthy 2nd and Rachael Dahl 3rd. Final Open event saw the tussle between Harrison and Toby finishing with Harrison touching 1st  and Toby 2nd with Roy claiming 3rd. Sally Carrington touched 1st for the girls with Morgan Williams 2nd and Hayley Whiting 3rd.

Finally the freestyle relays to top off the Carnival saw the teams eager  to swim for their Houses.

In the Junior  Girls Archie claimed 1st, Bacon 2nd and Bryce 3rd while in the Junior Boys Bacon touched 1st and Dickson 2nd. In the Senior Relay the results were the same for both girls and boys: ArchieBlack 1st, Bacon Bacon 2nd, Bryce Dickson 3rd.
