Students from all Charters Towers Secondary Schools gathered at BTC for the Annual Interschool Athletics Carnival. Thursday afternoon saw the hurdles, 1500m and a round of field events completed. In these events BTc had some solid performances. In the hurdles Darcy Ginns- Larkin powered away from the field to take 1st place. Megan Penna and Brandon Reed both competed well to take a 3rd place in their events. In the 14 yrs girls discus BTC had a 1st and 2nd placing with Tanay Lifu and Amber Curtis while James Freestone 's discus throws gave him a 3rd placing. Casey Henry jumped into 3rd place in the 15 yrs boys long jump and Brandon Reed did the same in the 16yrs boys long jump. In the Open boys high jump Steven Pittman scissored to a 3rd edging out Callum Smith 4th (I am sure you were off the mat when the bar fell off?)
last event for the day was the gruelling 1500m race.In the 13 yrs Keesha Whyte placed 3rd for the girls while Brodie Land ran a great race to place 1st with Jayden Pickering taking the 3rd ribbon. In the 14yrs Madi Smith battled for a 4th place while in the boys Jarod Holroyd took 4th over Daniel Simatis 5th. In the 15yrs Rachael Dahl ran a gutsy 2nd as did Jacob Mc Laren in the boys while Kaylin Laffey and Errol Miller placed 4th. In the 16yrs division Hayley Whiting finished 4th. Morgan Williams ran well in the Open Division to gain a 3rd place.
Friday has a full program of events..........always remember while it is rewarding to win ,SPORT is always about competing.
