Primary Interschool Swimming Carnival
The Primary Swim Team performed well at the Interschool Swimming Carnival. The 9 year olds swam well in their 50 m free debut race. Jamie, Harrison Lauren and Jessee all made it to the finals. Jack , Jordan and India swam great legs in the Junior relays. Georgia and Molly swam particularly well in the breast stroke with both making the finals. Georgia showed a talent for butterfly after being in the top placings in the finals and just slowing in the last 5 metres. A little more fitness and she will be a force to be reckoned with.Daniel swam well in all events and it was pleasing to see his committment to swimming all races regardless of how tired he was getting.Madi swam out of her skin to win all her 50m races and coming 2nd in the Open 100m Free and winning Age Champion for 11 Yr Girls. Jessica swam a great breast stroke final and always gave her best effort in all races.Shyann and Margaret backed up for all the 50m races and made most of the finals as well. Curtis, Ben and Roger swam well against a very tough field of competitors. Curtis got 2nds and 3rds to be the runner up of 12 Yr Boys (behind a tie for 1st). Elissa swam well in the 13 Yr Girls to be the runner up for Age Champion. The Senior Boys Relays placed 2nd in the Medley and 3rd in the Free Relay. The Senior Girls placed 3rd in the Free Relay. Overall BTC was 2nd in the Average Trophy and 4th in the Aggregate Trophy. Well done to the team!

Young Endeavour Explorer
Last term, after a rigorous selection process, BTC student Ewen McLennan was excited to be selected to set sail on the Young Endeavour as part of the Young Endeavour Program. After a bout of sea sickness...for many a young sailor, Ewen got his sea legs and settled in to enjoy an unforgetable experience as they sailed for 11 days from Townsville to Cairns. Hinchinbrook Island was a favourite port- of- call for Ewen.As part of the program, apart from climbing up the really high rigging, the novice sailors had to take turns as the "Cook for the Day". Word has it that Ewen's gourmet creation of Banana Pancakes and Thai Chilli Prawns has earmarked a spot for him on Master Chef !!! The friendships made, leadership skills and personal growth which evolved from the trip were priceless .Ewen thanked the Charters Towers City Council for supporting him in this fantastic quest. Congr
