Farewell Mr Gray

In the week of farewells, staff and students said a sad farewell to Mr Gray aka Grayman. Mr Gray has rejuvenated BTC's Voc Ed program in the past 4 years. He has also been the organiser of the BTC touch football teams. The teams have played successfully in the touch competition winning premierships in various age groups. Mr Gray, a qualified chef, was also responsible for supervising the dining hall and reintroducing "fish and chip" day. Thanks for everything and good luck with your future.

Staff Vs Students Softball Game

In the tradition of the Staff Vs Students softball clash, the spectators were entertained by displays of skill, luck and antics. Big hits kept the fielders on their toes while the runners scooted around the bases. In some instances there were a few obstacles in their way as they struggled to get home. The mother and son clash between Marnie and Zac was inevitable. Zac showed his skill at pitching to get the teachers out "3 up - 3 down". Mrs Cerqui showed that she still has it when it comes to catching and throwing a mean ball. Ms Devenish had the catch of the day and there was great support play by Mr Gray, Mrs Vince, Mr Horne, Mr Dalitz , Mr Ball and of course Mr Hewitt. Zac, Jake and Digby looked the part in their knickerbockers and left students wondering why we don't play baseball at school as well as the myriad of other sports we play. The student team got the most runs home, but as we know the teachers always win!

Farewell Mr Hewitt

The College held a Farewell Assembly for Mr Hewitt who is retiring from the education industry to take up a position in Toowoomba ,which will have him closer to his family. The Primary School students sang beautifully, the Concert Band played a Beatles medley (Mr Hewitt is a Beatles fan), the Senior Vocalist group were unforgetable and the tweaked version of "Mr Hewitt's Farewell Song" by Jarrah, Hayley and Meryn added some humour to the occasion. The Yr 9 Drama group performed their Eisteddfod mime which also brought a smile to everyone's face. Speeches by Marian from the P&F , Mrs Black on behalf of the staff and Nicola on behalf of the parents were delivered along with parting gifts. Mrs Mc Cubben wrote a final report card for Mr Hewitt ,with help from the students.......a very brave task, but it was done well. Mr Hewitt promised not to cry when he gave his response. Goodbye to Mr and Mrs Hewitt and Peta from all the BTC Community. Thank you for all your input into the College and we wish you all the best in the future.

Health and Recreation Camp

Year 11 and 12 students studying Health and PE Recreational Course went to the Burdekin Dam for their camp. Students were assessed on the planning and preparation for the camp as well as assisting with daily tasks involved in running the activities which included canoeing, ski-ing, tubing, fishing and wakeboarding. All students had a great time. Thanks to Keith for providing the boat and ski equipment and to Mr Parker for driving the bus and Ms Sharkey and Mrs Brodie for supervising.
