The Junior School recently held their Speech Day at the World Theatre. The morning , hosted by College Captain's for 2011, Hudson and Georgia, began with a presentation of the Year in Review slide show, with many a child looking intently to catch a glimpse of themselves. The Junior vocal group sang "Ben" beautifully with Bailey and Abby harmonising well. Ms Fuller gave a recount of the past year highlighting the smiles and enthusiasm of our students. Junior Captains, Katie and Casey gave personal insights into their last year as Junior students. The Sporting Awards were first with a new category of Under 7 Sports Encouragement award for a boy (Zach)and girl (Jahana). Traditionally Awards began at 8yrs but with so many of our younger students competing well at their sporting events, particularly swimming, it was decided to recognise their efforts. 13 year primary students were also recognised this year as our primary champions. To be the 13 yr old College Age Champion they need to win the 13 yrs competition while competing with their Yr 8 peers. After numerous accolades and presentations to many students, the call for the Junior School Sportwoman and Sportsman were very close and went to Madi and Sean . Next were the Academic Awards. All Prep students recieved an Encouragement Award in the form of a book. Some other new awards this year included Religious Education awards given to Bailey and Alex and the "Spirit of BTC Awards" going to Jack and Grace. The final award of the morning was Dux of Junior School which was awarded to Madi with Katie an extremely close Proxime Accessit.Principal for 2011, Mrs Moxham, was the guest speaker for the morning and students and parents could meet and chat with her and her husband, BTC's new CEO, at the morning tea held after the proceedings.Enjoy your break Junior School students.
