It was a sunny day with a cool enough breeze blowing to make the athletes want to run fast to keep warm for BTC'S Interhouse Athletic Carnival. Athletes battled for placings, but there was always jesting with their schoolmates. Non-athletes dressed up and competed for points for their Sports Houses. Three records were broken on the day with a couple of others getting a big nudge. Some long standing records were re-written. Firstly 13 year old Amber Curtis broke Tessa Jackson's 2000 (11yrs) discus record by .21 m. Not to be outdone , Courtney Sheales broke the 16 yrs long jump record held by M Mason for the past 29 years. She leaped a further.06 m to create a new Interhouse and College record of 4.70m. Finally at his last Interhouse Athletics Carnival, Year 12 student, Anton Wolmby broke Barry Darben's 36 year old long junp record he set in 1975. Anton jumped 6.8 m which was .51m more than the record. At the end of the day was the annual House tug-of-war. In the Junior mixed teams it was Bryce/Dickson, Bacon/Bacon then Archie/Black. the results of the Seniors tug-of-war was confusing with Archie /Black beating Bacon/ Bacon and Bacon/ Bacon beating Bryce/ Dickson who beat Archie/ Black???? Hmmm does that make it a 3 way- tie? Thanks to Mrs Robb and Christine Patterson for braving the cool breeze to keep tally of the points and results.
