Last week saw the BTC Secondary students invade the town pool for the annual Interhouse Swimming Carnival. The carnival was held during the day this year, which led to a relaxed carnival where we weren't worried about the evening thunderstorm we had to dodge in previous years. Students were keen and committed to trying their best. Records were broken by Thomas Polkinghorne, Darcy Ginns-Larkin, Doug Rayment and Callum Smith. Girls Age Champions were Layne Prichard (13yrs),Maddie Fox (14yrs),Jane Wallace (15yrs)Jessica Sollitt(16yrs)Emma Evert (Open) with Archie house winning the girl's competition.Boys Age Champions were Thomas Polkinghorne (13yrs)Harrison Phillott(14yrs)Doug Rayment (15yrs)Callum Smith(16yrs) Zac Santo (Open) with Black house winnng the boy's compeition. Overall winners were Archie Black. The highlight of the evening was the annual "Beat Mr Gilbert" race with Doug Rayment pulling away to beat him in the last few metres of the 50m breaststroke. Interschool swimming will be held on Thursday 25 and Friday 26 February.
